EngageLab is an interdisciplinary research driven development unit at the University of Oslo, under the Faculty of Educational Sciences.
The staff has extensive experience from collaborating with researchers from multiple fields and disciplines, mainly educational psychology, health informatics, computer science, and the humanities. Across these fields EngageLab has over the past ten years conducted and held leading roles in design, development, evaluations and experiments in a large number of national and international research projects.
The main application areas for our research driven development are the educational sector (all levels), the health care sector, the cultural sector, and different types of workplaces (such as the service industry).
Our expertise is concentrated around three tracks; technology enhanced learning (TEL), humanist oriented design of ICT, and health informatics. We are engaged in projects to design, develop, and support pilots and design interventions.
We work through participatory design, experience design and pedagogical design, making iterative shifts between artifacts of expressions (expert knowledge) and expressive artifacts (prototypes), utilising our skills within current means of communication and co-creation. We have a focus on social media, mobile/locative technologies, tangible computing (smart objects), and touch interfaces.
We have lab facilities and an infrastructure that supports large-scale mock-ups and design experiments.
