Higher education is an interdisciplinary research field, focusing on how changes in political, economical, and social relations both on a national and international level influence higher education.
Research in this field contributes with important information about the processes in higher education from different perspectives. It involves studies on micro-, meso-, and macro levels of analyses. Some of the core themes include studies of European and global processes in higher education, changes in the relationship between higher education and the state, the university as an institution, close studies of educational practices and studies of how new technology can be applied in relation to education and learning.
The research group looks at higher education from different perspectives and angles (micro, meso, and macro levels), the group also investigates the relationships between these different levels. Group members are working closely on the Hedda master programmes on higher education.
