Design and development
Because of its interdisciplinary character and twofold agenda of both research and research support, InterMediaLab project work is led by multiple methods. Notions of agile software development from informatics may be triangulated with text analysis from humanities, and user studies from social science.
Overarching these methodological traditions lies a more general interest in production-based methods where theoretical knowledge and explorative design drive technical knowledge and development, and technical knowledge drives theoretical knowledge and explorative design.
Performing collaborative and interdisciplinary production based research is challenging, and needs an articulated project management design, adaptable to each project. This is a work in progress at InterMedia Lab. Part of this process is to include management tools that support agile development processes and collective knowledge advancement systems (wikis) in this design.
