Projects involving the Lab

The lab is engaged in research projects, development projects related to using ICT in learning, and in research dissemination and communication projects.

 

CONTACT: Communicating Organizations in Networks of Art and Cultural Heritage Technologies The CONTACT project investigates the ways in which ICTs are impacting the organizational and communicative practices of museums in their work of engaging audiences, particularly young people.

INVENTIO - Theory and Practice of Designing Digital Genres for Learning and Leisure Exploring digital genres by production driven inquiry in a mix of locative and broadband media and technologies.

NARRAHAND We explore the making of a collaborative fictional narrative on GPS mobile phones authored by young adult African immigrants in Oslo. A wiki is used to link online reflections on shared making and use.

RareICT The project has established web-based resources for peer-support, which support production and accumulating knowledge and experiences from different stakeholders, such as patients, family members and health providers.

SCY - Science Created by You This project develops a system for constructive and productive learning of science and technology by using a flexible and adaptive pedagogical approach to learning.

 

Completed projects

CALIBRATE - Calibrating eLearning in Schools CALIBRATE is organised to add value to the services provided for by national content portals and improve the ability of schools to easily locate and access a wider and more diverse collection of learning resources at an European level.

Designing Design Investigating digital media, communication, informatics and design is presented through an international seminar series and research publications referring to a set of sub projects in digital design.

Dilemma Dilemma is a digital learning resource for use in teacher education that assumes a high degree of student activity, and supports theoretic reflection during the course of the program. The teaching students encounter realistic audiovisual situations from a typical school day.

Dilemma Training for Surveyors - Newbuilding A digital learning resource for use in training for surveyors in the ship building industry. The surveyors encounter realistic audiovisual situations from the yard, and will be given alternative tracks of argumentation to follow in problem situations.

Docudancing Docudance is an experimental research and design project into the medley of choreography, documentary and research documentaion.

Engagement & Communication in Digital Cultural Environments Design of digital environments for meaningful encounters with cultural heritage, relating objects & resources from museum collections.

ForLIKT Findings from key research projects at InterMedia 2005-06 about ICT and learning in school and teacher education are illustrated and profiled for mediating purposes.

GIDDER: Groups in Digital Dialogue GIDDER is a postdoc research project that combines wiki, blog and mobile phone technologies to support high school students interpreting works of contemporary art across two settings, classroom and museum.

grig - Guild for mixed reality integrators & generators We are a group of European artistic and cultural operators creating & researching mixed reality works that intertwine digital media & physical materials, objects & spaces.

Locke A pilot project to develop TV dialogues to meet the challange of critical dissemination of research in the fields of philosophy, ethics and history of science. The first example is about Hannah Arendt.

Mobile Misuse An art and design research project on the creative use, abuse and misuse of mobile devices. Engaging individuals in personal performances that transgress or transform mobile disengagement from public experience.

MULTIMO - researching multimodal discourses Interdisciplinary investigation of making and analysing multimodal discourse in digital domains where mediated design, texts, activity and meaning making are central.

Open Archaeology Development of a learning and dissemination environment for archeology, focussing on processes and participation. Based on wiki, blog and semantic web technologies.

PERSWAYS: participation & persuasion in digital advertising This project aims at exploring digital advertising and their contextualisation in terms of participatory and social media.

PiCO: Projectors in Collaboration PiCO explores the use of pico projectors (handheld digital projectors) and mobile phones for learning in museum spaces. The relationship between screens and physical museum spaces serves as the backdrop for examining these learning interactions.

RENAME - Research, Narrative and Mediation The RENAME project spanned from methodological questions related to digital research documentation, to mediation of complex research processes, to communication design of procedural research mediation related to cultural heritage research

Severe vision and hearing impairments among elderly A web-based information\- and training resource about severe vision and hearing impairments for nurses and those who are working with elderly people.

Teachers for All A program which targets teacher education for inclusive schools, with a focus on literacy and learners with disabilities. It presents audiovisual situations from the classrooms in Uganda and Kenya, and gives information and reflection exercises.

TRANSACTIONS web site Development of a wiki based project site for the research group Transactions, exploring how to build and mediate a shared research space through collaborative design.

WIKI-D A production based inquiry into the digital mediation of outcomes of a large Norwegian research programme, with a focus on the use of wikis in multimodal, research discourses.
