About the project
In this project Jon Kaurel will write the contemporary history of childhood and children as it appears in the policy of Norwegian early childhood education. In 2005 the Norwegian “barnehage” became a formal part of the educational system and as almost all children in Norway now attends this institution, it also to a great extent constitutes childhood as such. By analyzing the Norwegian educational policy, I want to describe and discuss how the “barnehages” new status as education is framing our views on children and ideas of early childhood.
