The significance of preschool teachers’ interaction strategies for language minority children’s language - and social-emotional development (PhD project)
The aim of the PhD project is to study preschool teachers’ interaction strategies in everyday conversations and more specifically in conversations over text.
About the project
The PhD project is part of a large - scale intervention study “Teaching for text comprehension: Supporting young second-language learners’ text comprehension in urban multiethnic preschools in Norway”, (PreComp). The main research methods involved are classroom observations of preschool teachers and second language learners’ interaction and assessing children’s language development. The theoretical framework of the study is based on attachment theories, joint attentional focus theories, and prior research on children’s social-emotional development and children’s development of emotion comprehension.
