Second language learning: teacher-child interactions.

About the project

This project concerns development and stimulation of language in minority children aged 5 through 7 with Punjabi as their mother tongue (N=10). A multiple single case design is used and systematic in-depth studies of natural dialogues between child -teacher and child – peer in various pre-specified learning situations in kindergartens and classrooms carried out. Additionally, describing and evaluating the «set up» of the learning situations (the role of teacher, organization, planning, content etc.) relative to the frequency and quality of the educational dialogues is highlighted. A major objective is to specify characteristics of good educational dialogues.
