In Kenneth Silseth`s PhD project he explores how young people learn with new media in and across different sites of participation. By drawing on sociocultural and dialogical approaches to meaning-making and learning, he studies how students in educational contexts, in cooperation with their teachers, learn in activities that are afforded by digital technology. In order to address these issues, he analyzes interactional data from two different cases, in which encounters between students and their teachers in different classroom situations are made visible. The first case deals with students that are making digital stories (short audiovisual movies) in the subject of History. The second case deals with students that are playing the computer game Global Conflicts: Palestine in the subject of Social Science.
