Humanities studies in education
Over several decades the research community has built up considerable expertise in historical and philosophical approaches to the study of Bildung and education.
These studies provide historical background for and meta-perspectives on educational research, theory and practice. They also raise and discuss important fundamental questions. Humanities studies in education for example address the formation of young people in kindergartens and schools, as devised by legislation, curricula and educational ideals.
Historical and philosophical studies of education thus contribute to the general understanding, critique and justification of the roles of educators and disseminators of knowledge.
