Language development, text comprehension and learning from multiple information sources
A major focus of the research area is to expand current knowledge about the development of language and literacy skills from early childhood to adulthood.
The research addresses different aspects of language and literacy in typically developing individuals as well as in individuals at risk. There is a particular focus on text comprehension across the life span, including beginning reading skills, oral discourse as a precursor for literacy, text comprehension among young people and adults, literacy among language minority children, and learning from multiple information sources.
The research aims to generate basic knowledge in the area of language and literacy as well as preventive measures and interventions.
