Brown Bag Seminar: Maoxin Zhang

Title: Beyond proficiency: what can we learn from log data?

Abstract: Problem solving in technology-rich environments is an essential skill in modern society and was a focus area in the 2012 Programme for the International Assessment of Adult Competencies (PIAAC). Beyond task performance, we can also obtain process data, which provide valuable information on how test takers solve problems. In this presentation, we consider the potential to define latent constructs related to planning and exploration behavior that can be measured using process data across multiple tasks. We review the existing literature and consider how to measure exploration and planning behavior with basis in the process data in PIAAC.
