How do universities interpret the concept of learning environment; compared with higher education researchers and policy makers?

The concept of learning environment has recently gained an increased attention in higher education studies and policies. This study identifies the ways in which the recent studies and policies have interpreted the concept. Then, it examines how universities are interpreting it compared with the researchers and policy, taking five Norwegian universities as an example. By doing this the study aims to contribute to increase our knowledge on how the concept learning environment is approached in the context of (Norwegian) higher education, and provide a comprehensive picture of the concept from different perspectives.
