About Research, Innovation and Competence Development
Research, Innovation and Competence Development (Norwegian acronym: FIKS) is a unit which coordinates UiO’s initiative for research, innovation and competence development in schools. This initiative has its basis in the decentralized competence development scheme.

The decentralized competence development scheme was described in a report to the Parliament (2016), and is the basis for the cooperation between the university and college sector, school owners, school leaders and teachers.
FIKS will coordinate the activities and actions for competence development together with the following faculties:
- Faculty of Humanities
- The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences
- Faculty of Social Sciences
- The Faculty of Theology
- Faculty of Educational Science
