Comprehending and learning from texts

This area of research focuses on how people understand and learn from different types of texts—printed as well as digital.

Relevant issues include the importance of oral language skills (e.g., vocabulary), challenges for language minority children, and learning with and from multiple textual resources in secondary and post-secondary education. Additional issues concern the development of motivation and comprehension skills among young readers, as well as efforts to promote such development in both kindergarten and school.
