What is it like to work in IDEA StudentTeam?

IDEA StudentTeam assists the faculty in various projects that work with educational development related to digital technology.

IDEA (Innovation and Digitalization in Educational Arenas) is UV's educational resource center that will support the faculty's academic environments in their quality development. The focus is on pedagogical innovation in teaching, especially related to the pedagogical use of digital technology. IDEA StudentTeam consists of student employees who contribute to this work on a number of different projects:

  • Universal design
  • Media production
  • Artificial intelligence in teaching and assessment

The work in IDEA StudentTeam is tailored for students, and is both varied and flexible.

Meet some of our student employees and learn more about what they have learned during their time as part of the IDEA StudentTeam.

Being part of IDEA’s student team has been both educational and really fun! The tasks are varied, and I have worked on everything from video production and content for UiO’s websites to planning and organising AI workshops for other students. My time at IDEA has involved both independent work and teamwork, and I have had a lot of freedom and to a large extent been allowed to be creative and shape the tasks myself. The job has also been a perfect supplement to my studies, as the working hours are very flexible, while I have gained skills and experiences that are highly relevant and worth their weight in gold for my future working life. If there is one thing I regret, it is that I didn’t apply for a job at IDEA before the second year of my master’s degree, because I would have liked to stay on if I could!

At IDEA I have been able to work with a wide range of tasks. The projects we work on are a good combination of assignments and our own initiatives from the student team. These range from small technical tasks to larger projects, such as running workshops for first-year students or creating resource pages for students and teachers. I am leaving the job with expanded competence in, among other things, media production and the use of artificial intelligence. The flexibility at IDEA makes it a perfect job for students at all stages of their studies. There is a lot of room for learning, and all the work is to a large extent driven by the student team.

IDEA has allowed me to develop new skills and strengthen others, well suited for an ever-changing society. This workplace facilitates flexible and hybrid friendly work in a curious and international environment. I have worked on various projects from start to finish, done voice overs as well as created webpages and different resources, both alone and in a team.

As an international student, I love being part of the open and diverse community at IDEA StudentTeam, where I can meet people from around the world, improve my Norwegian and English, and develop skills through workshops and tutorials—like creating an online workshop and using audio and video editing tools this semester—making the job both engaging and enjoyable.

At IDEA, I have been able to employ the knowledge I have acquire during my studies. It has been an excellent place where I can work in something related to my education and my hobbies, knowing I am having an impact in my faculty, and also a place where I have learned a lot of different skills, skills that enhance my professional toolbox and help me understand how to use what I learn in real life scenarios.
