Create your own podcast
Do you want to produce your own podcast or audio files that you can share with your students? On this page, we have gathered resources and guides on how to proceed.
Good audio is important!
Good audio is important for making a good podcast. If you are not using Studio U29 for recording, we recommend that you borrow a microphone from IDEA.
For professional audio recordings
UV has its very own studio – Studio U29 – which is professionally equipped with microphones and an audio mixer for podcast production. The studio has four microphones, a mixing desk, and is well soundproofed. You will find good explanations of how to use the equipment. You can also get support from IDEA for the production if you need it.
How to get access to Studio U29
Simple audio recordings
Audacity is a free tool for both recording and editing audio. You can find the program in SoftwareCenter.
You can read more about Audacity on UiO IT's web pages (Norwegian page).
Audio recording with others
Do you want to make a podcast with someone who is located somewhere else in Norway or in the world? You can easily do this by using Zoom for recording.
When you record a meeting or conversation in Zoom, two different media files are produced from the recording. You get both a video file (.mp4) and an audio file (.m4a).
UiO IT has created a good description of how you can make recordings in Zoom (Norwegian page). The description is made for video recordings, but the steps are the same since Zoom gives you two different media files when the recording is finished.
To use the audio file as a podcast file, it must be converted to an .mp3 file. You can easily do this in Audacity by selecting "Export Audio" and then choosing .mp3 as the file format. Remember where you choose to save it.
