Editing video and audio can be need when working with research data. Shotcut and audacity is openly available software which allows you to edit videos and audio without prior knowledge of editing in general. The course will cover different methods of masking unwanted data, and of the basic principles of audio and video editing.

However, a limitation of this system is that a small group of gatekeepers decide what gets shared or who gets to present their work. Social media has turned this system on its head by providing an opportunity for anyone to share their work and build collaborations, free of gatekeeping. This talk will demonstrate the benefits of social media and provide some practical tips on getting started.

Zoom (UiO version) is approved for collecting red data, for example during online interviews. Appropriate use requires specific computer setup and settings. Zoom can also be used as a video recording software when you are out in the field and wish to record a situation that is regarded as red data. This course will walk through different scenarios.
