The main purpose of this project is to describe educational dialogues between pupils with Down syndrome and their teachers.
About the project
This study focuses on educational dialogues between pupils with Down syndrome and their special needs educators. A dialogue can be seen as a learning oriented conversation which aims at constructing new meaning in a collective process of inquiry. How special needs educators stimulate engagement and language in selected learning activities involving pupils with Down syndrome, will be investigated through video observations. Seven third graders and their teachers participate in the study. Different analytical approaches will illuminate elements within the educational dialogues that are considered to constitute a beneficial basis for all children’s learning.
