The Dissemination and Innovation Award - statutes

The Faculty of Education awards a prize each year to academic staff who have made a significant effort to strengthen innovation and communication work in line with the faculty's strategy. The prize was established to recognise the contributions of staff in research dissemination and innovation that can lead to the application of knowledge.

The prize is awarded to academic staff who have made a significant effort in enhancing innovation and communication work in accordance with the faculty’s strategy: “The Faculty aims to contribute to the dissemination of research knowledge and research-based innovation in the education sector and society at large. The Faculty should also contribute to knowledge-based discussions and the formation of opinions, being present where important discussions about education and educational research are taking place.”

Statutes

The prize is awarded annually. Both staff and students at the Faculty of Education can nominate candidates. The nominations should be substantiated and explicitly outline the reasons why the candidate deserves the award. The deadline for submitting nominations for the prize is 21 November.

The prize is awarded to academic staff at the Faculty of Education. It can be awarded to both individuals and groups of individuals (academic environments), including organisational units.
The prize may be awarded for a single achievement in the previous year or for an effort or activity that extends over a longer period.
The prize can be awarded for activities (projects, initiatives) aimed at the general public or professional users of research knowledge or research-based innovation, such as government bodies, the education sector, cultural sector, health sector, business sector, etc.

Innovations that fall under the prize's purpose may be innovative and research-based practices, methods, or tools used to address various educational challenges in society.

Dissemination that falls under the award's purpose may include different forms of communication aimed at various user groups within the education sector and the public, participation in public debate, and contributions to investigations, textbook authorship, etc.
The prize is not awarded for development work and dissemination that occurs as part of teaching activities at the University of Oslo or other higher education institutions, and which therefore may be rewarded with awards for good pedagogical practice. The prize is also not awarded for the dissemination of research results primarily aimed at the research community (scientific publishing).

  • The award consists of a stipend (operating funds) of NOK 20,000 and a graphic print. The prize is awarded annually by the Dean.
  • The award cannot be awarded to the same person or group again until at least five years have elapsed since the last award.
  • There must be at least two nominations for the prize to be awarded. The prize may be shared between one or more recipients.

Nominating Candidates

Both individuals and groups of people (including staff, students, and external parties) can nominate candidates by November 21. The nominations should be substantiated and should concretely explain why the candidate deserves the award.
