Do you want to develop high-quality teaching programs that use digital technology?

IDEA supports you in the development of innovative and engaging teaching of high quality.

IDEA

  • is an arena for exploring, developing, and implementing innovative teaching methods and technologies at the UV faculty.
  • gives you an arena to exchange experiences and innovative solutions with colleagues.
  • creates collaboration between lecturers, study administration, and IT support.
  • offers online services and opportunities for knowledge sharing.
  • is the contact point for user support within the pedagogical use of digital tools in education.

IDEA ensures that the faculty's students and staff are in dialogue with each other about teaching and education and will contribute to the students getting involved in their own education and in self-driven innovation.

Background and organization

Background

During the COVID-19 period, UV established a working group that has mapped the need for support for the development of digital teaching. The working group has compiled a report, in which, among other things, the following is proposed:

  • systematization of available digital resources at the faculty
  • systematic exchange of experiences and collective development work within and across the faculty’s units
  • increased opportunities and incentives to carry out innovation work
  • development projects that contribute to pedagogically justified use of digital solutions
  • architectural design framework factors that facilitate digital and hybrid teaching

In addition, the report points to the need for a sustainable support system and research-based pedagogical innovation work in order to utilize advanced technology to increase the quality of teaching and to optimize the use of different types of competence (digital, pedagogical, IT, external expertise, etc.).

The report proposes establishing an interdisciplinary “task force” with different types of expertise (IT support, pedagogical use of IT, pedagogy, physical learning environment) to solve challenges at the programme and course level.

In line with this recommendation, IDEA is being established as an arena for digitalization and innovation in the study programmes, Innovation and Digitalization in Education Arenas (IDEA), for three years. IDEA will focus on coordinating innovation work and measures for digitalization in teaching.

Furthermore, IDEA will contribute with analyses of the use of digital teaching resources, as well as develop pedagogical and technological resources. IDEA will strengthen the interaction between teaching, innovation and research, and become a common portal to UV’s work with digital teaching and research-based innovation in the study programmes.

Project description and goals

IDEA works purposefully to have an integrated approach – where pedagogical design and digital solutions complement each other, helping to promote students’ learning and to create interaction between research and teaching. This contributes to innovative teaching practices.

IDEA’s concrete goals are:

  1. Identify the need for further development of pedagogical-digital competence and capacity for pedagogical innovation
  2. Facilitate optimal utilization and development of resources for digital teaching
  3. Strengthen and further develop competence for innovative digitalized teaching practice
  4. Increase capacity to carry out research-based innovation and digitalization of the study programmes.
