Can we improve reading and language skills? Lessons learned from genetic designs and randomised trials.

This open CREATE seminar will be given by Professor Monica Melby-Lervåg

What skills are malleable through interventions and to what extent, has attracted attention from researchers for centuries. In this talk I will have a closer look at malleability of reading and language skills.

Malleability of reading and language skills will first be discussed in relation to studies using genetically sensitive designs and secondly in relation to randomized trials where we actually have attempted to train the different skills. Implications from these findings will be outlined in relation to how we might reduce social inequalities.
