CREATE Open Seminar: The ReadWell and ABC123 trials

This seminar will be presented by Monica Melby-Lervåg and Tonje Amland from CREATE, and Anita Lopez-Pedersen from Department of Special Needs Education. In this talk, they will present results from two large-scale randomized trials, ReadWell and ABC123, and examine the relationship between children’s reading and math skills.

To examine the effects of interventions, randomized controlled trials are critical. The talk will present the structure and results from two recent large-scale randomized trials, ReadWell (together with Co Pi Trude Nergård Nilssen) and ABC123 (together with Vibeke Rønneberg, Anita Lopez Pedersen and Tonje Amland). ReadWell targets language and reading skills in children with weak reading skills. However, many children struggle with both reading and math and there is a close relationship between them. ABC123 therefore target both of them by trying to take advantage of the factors that are common between the two.
