In this open lecture I have been given the opportunity to look back on my (admittedly fairly short) academic research career and summarize some preliminary and completed findings, as I move on from academia. I will talk about the two major themes of my research to date. In the first part, I will focus on research conducted as a PhD student, and later a researcher, in the QUINT and SYNTEQ projects.

This work addresses different aspects of teaching quality in lower secondary mathematics classrooms, as well as the use of observation frameworks.
The second part turns to ongoing research from my postdoc (which will be completed during evenings and weekends, I'm sure). This research is centered on collaborative problem-solving activities in upper secondary mathematics classrooms, specifically classrooms adhering to the “Building Thinking Classrooms” teaching approach developed by Peter Liljedahl.
