Week 42: Discover this year's events
Previous
As a grand finale to this year’s Week 42, the PhD candidates invite everyone to a get-together and symposium at Kjelleren.
Welcome to a presentation of the report 'NOU 2026: 10 Fellesskolen – The cornerstone of tomorrow's society' by committee member Martin Eckhoff Andresen. Following the presentation, UV-researchers representing various perspectives on education will join him in a panel discussion.
Moving from the auditorium seat to the lectern is rarely straightforward. This session offers PhD candidates and postdocs a space to share and discuss experiences from that first shift, from student to teacher, and the fears that often come with it.
Teaching in academia is seldom as straightforward as it appears, and your teaching profile is as important as your research profile when you apply for a new position or promotion. This session will cover what you need to think about to document and present your unique teaching profile the SoTL way (Scholarship of Teaching and Learning).
How do we create inclusive learning conversations where all students have their say? In this course, you will get a brief introduction to Talkwall, a research-based tool that supports dialogue, reflection and academic discussions in teaching. We demonstrate how Talkwall can be used alone or integrated with Canvas and invite you to a design activity exploring how artificial intelligence can be used alongside Talkwall to enrich classroom dialogue.
What does it take to be a good teacher? That's hard enough to answer alone — so what happens when you try to answer it together? In this session, an experienced professor and a PhD student share their experience of co-teaching, and what it takes to make it work.
Become more aware of your own motivation, mindset and time management. This session will be a combination of presentation of tools, workshop and brainstorming.
A long CV does not automatically create a clear career direction. In this session, we will discuss how to turn research, teaching and other experiences into a compelling profile that supports your next move, whether you are completing your PhD, exploring career options, applying for jobs or preparing for professor promotion.
A good pitch is a skill, not a talent, and it takes less time to learn than you might think. In this fast-paced 45-minute session, you'll pick up practical pitching techniques and try them out on a project of your own.
Design is usually an afterthought in research, but it's often the difference between standing out and getting overlooked. This course teaches you to think like a designer, not to make things pretty, but to make them work. You'll learn the principles behind clear, impactful visual communication and how to apply them across your research.
Can you communicate years of research in under 60 seconds? Probably not. But with almost half of Gen Z now using TikTok instead of Google to search for information, the sad truth is clear: academia can no longer ignore social media. In this session, we look at how these platforms — while far from perfect — can serve as a gateway for researchers to find new audiences and academic opportunities.
Are you planning to apply for an ERC Starting Grant or a Young Researcher Grant from the Research Council of Norway? In this talk, Nicolai Borgen shares hands-on strategies for writing proposals that stand out in competitive calls and get funded.
This session aims to inspire you to rethink the way you design and present scientific posters. Learn to create visually engaging posters that communicate effectively and stand out from a sea of text-heavy designs.
