Self-chosen Master Project
If it turns out that the project list (available from April) does not include a project or topic that you would like to write about or if you are already engaged in an external research project, you can apply to write a master’s thesis in a self-chosen topic. You will need to talk to the person in charge of your track and then apply to the institute for approval of both the project and the supervisor. For a self-chosen master project, you are responsible for contacting the potential supervisor.
What do you need to do:
- Make sure that the project or theme does not exist in the available project list.
- Contact the person in charge of your track
- Find out if the topic/ project is suitable as a master’s thesis.
- Ask if the person in charge of your track is aware of or can recommend someone that can be contacted as a supervisor. If not, you will need to find a supervisor on your own.
- Reach out to the potential supervisor and ask if they are available.
- Update the person in charge of your track.
- Send in the application, which needs to include:
- Information about the project and if the project needs to be registered in SIKT.
- The supervisor’s contact information
- Application must be in by the 31st of May.
If you are already engaged in an external research project, you can apply to write your thesis about this project if approved by those in charge of the project. You will also need to apply for a self-chosen project. Deadline: 31st of May.
