On behalf of the research group, Sigríður Margrét Sigurðardóttir (University of (University of Akureyri) contributed with an online poster presentation.
The CANDLES pilot project examines school leadership in rural and remote Nordic and Arctic communities to develop a framework for sustainable educational leadership.
Bringing researchers together
Through collaborative action research, academic researchers and school leaders co-create contextually grounded practices to strengthen community resilience and produce evidence-based policy recommendations.
According to Sigurðardóttir, it was a great opportunity to take part in a conference bringing together researchers working on Arctic and Nordic contexts, and to place the CANDLES project within these broader discussions. The setting allowed for interesting exchanges across different fields and perspectives.
Sustainable educational leadership
In presenting CANDLES in this context, she empasizes that it also made it possible to highlight an educational perspective. Particularly the role of sustainable educational leadership in supporting resilience and development in Arctic and Nordic communities. This perspective is often less visible, but remains essential as societies navigate ongoing environmental and social change.
Sigurðardóttir maintains that it was both enjoyable and valuable to share the project and connect with others working on related issues across the region.
