Ziaka presented a poster on a study of the distance between gaze and voice during serial naming of digits, pictures, or words, carried out with Norwegian children attending 2nd and 5th grade. The data show that the children coordinate gaze and voice to maintain a safe distance so that the task can be carried out as efficiently as possible without interference from nearby items. The distance between gaze and voice was greater for the 5th graders, who can more effectively name items (especially words) as well as protect them from mutual interference.
