Academic interests
My primary research interests revolve around two main themes:
- Mathematical competence. Different understandings of mathematical competence and how mathematical competence can be assessed and measured.
- Mathematical tasks. The opportunities to learn mathematics provided by mathematical tasks, analysis of tasks and tasks demands, and teachers' knowledge about and use of mathematical tasks.
I am also interested in students' attitudes towards mathematics, educational choice and equality and equity in education. The majority of my research and work is quantitatively oriented and based on analysis of large-scale assessment data.
