Academic interests

Social studies education, education for sustainable development, citizenship, diversity, qualitative method, discourse analysis

Background

I'm an associate professor in Social studies education. My research interests are clustered around two related nodes, one is sustainability education and the other is diversity in education. Currently, I do research on secondary school students’ discourses about sustainability and change through a collaborative project involving teachers and MA students. WIthin the diversity node, I'm involved in projects exploring multicultural events and how student teachers conceptualize diversity. I have a background in Human geography that has shaped my interest in, and understanding of, politics, citizenship and civil society engagement. The issues that I'm working mostly on now are interdisciplinary and provide great opportunities to work both within the discipline of social studies education and across disciplinary boundaries.
