Professional experience
I am currently working as a research professor (sko 1183) at the Department of Teacher Education and School Research and at the centre of Excellence "Centre for Research on Equality in Education" (CREATE). At CREATE, I am the leader of Pillar 1 "Identifying barriers to equality in education". I am also the leader of the research group Large-scale Educational Assessment (LEA), and I am leader of the project TESO funded by the Norwegian Research Council. My work includes analyzing data from TIMSS and other large scale surveys such as PISA and TALIS, video data from TESO, supervision (Ph.D. and master students), and publishing articles and reports. I am also working as an external expert for the international questionnaire expert groups in TIMSS, TALIS, and TALIS Starting Strong.
Prior to this, I worked with the professional development of teachers at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. I have also worked as a teacher in mathematics and science in high school.
Education: I have a Ph.D. in science education and international large-scale assessment and a master in astrophysics. In addition, I have studied pedagogy (PPU) and computer programming.
Research interests
Educational inequalities, educational measurement and quantitative methods, causality, teaching quality and teacher competence, school climate, international large-scale assessment, science and mathematics education.
