Revolution of the service economy – Human being at the core of digitalization (completed)

The "Revolution of the service economy – Human being at the core of digitalization" (2015-2018) project is a large multidisciplinary consortium project comprising altogether 19 partners, and is funded by the Finnish Funding Agency for Innovation (Tekes). The project proposes revolution of the service economy as a potential solution for economic depression. Investing solely in ICT does not solve the problems: there is a need for truly human-centered breakthrough into the service economy with the help of disruptive service innovations and integrations. Creation of innovative service integrations requires solid research support.

Objectives

The project seeks for a direction that springs from people’s daily lives, with technical solutions supporting those. The key question is to build prerequisites of success for companies by combining people, ICT and effective operational practices. The research aims at accelerating such combinations in practice. The novelty value lies in merging 1) research on service innovations, 2) research on people’s daily lives, 3) learning interventions and evaluation, and 4) new opportunities of digitalization in a new way. The vision is widely adopted service competence, reinforced by digitalization, as a strategic infrastructure of the society. Deliverables will enhance open innovation and agile, disruptive innovation competences throughout the society.
