Ambition
Our ambition is to establish a synergy that is based on curiosity, innovation and a genuine interest with the purpose of increasing inclusion in education and services for all.
Common goal
Communication processes and access to communication are the key to inclusive societies. We share the common goal of establishing a dialogue between viewpoints that often are theoretically and practically focusing on different approaches to encountering individuals. For example medical and social models, neurodivergent and neurotypical communities, host linguistic groups and groups of different ethnic linguistic background.
COIN gathers a broad range of philosophical, theoretical, methodological, clinical and research experiences.
COIN consists of two sub-groups focusing on:
a) Communication disorders in a clinical approach (Communication).
b) Inclusion and Diversity in Education (Inclusion).
The Communication group's work
- Evidence‑based implementation.
- Research to both develop and translate effective practices into routine clinical and educational settings for persons with speech, language, and communication disorders across the lifespan.
- This includes for example stuttering, aphasia, selective mutism, autism, cerebral palsy, and intellectual disability.
The inclusion group’s work
- Grounded at the intersection of special education, inclusive education, disability studies, and sociocultural psychology of education.
- The group’s approach to research highlights the sociopolitical, institutional, and pedagogical conditions that contribute to inclusive practices and policies.
