Modern meta-analytic methods

Research syntheses, such as systematic reviews and meta-analyses, are important tools to inform policymaking, practice, and research in education. However, with the increasing volume and diversity of research, methodological complexities, such as the integration of raw and summary data or the multiplicity of effect sizes, challenge the meaningful synthesis and interpretation of evidence. This research area addresses these complexities and aims to: a) develop and evaluate modern meta-analytic techniques that integrate different data structures and sources, including meta-analyses of and with large-scale assessment data; b) provide best-practice examples and new ways of synthesizing research evidence continuously over time; and c) conduct meta-analyses on educationally relevant topics (e.g., equality in education).
