Scholarly interests

  • My interest lies with how young people live their lives outside and in education, and in how their growing up, their adolescence, experiences and identities impacts on the choices they do in education, how they see themselves in the classroom, in how and what they learn and in their ideas about their future. In my research I have in particular studied young people’s choice of education at the end of compulsory school and the transition to upper secondary education through the project Educational Pathways. In my current project Safety-VET, I will investigate factors that may be of importance for the completion of vocational education and training among young people at risk for dropping out/being pushed out of school. In general, I’m engaged in questions related to youth and adolescence, development, identity, social background and education; the school as a context for young people’s lives and young people’s lives as a context for their experiences in education and in school.
