The Jonas prize

The Jonas prize is awarded to a person, organization or institution that has made extraordinary efforts to promote awareness about disabled persons and disability discrimination in society.

The Department of Special Needs Education at the University of Oslo is responsible for awarding the Jonas prize. The nominees are ranked with a particular emphasis on efforts to create a more tolerant society where differences between individuals are seen as an advantage rather than a problem.

The Jonas prize is awarded  annually.
