About the group
KITE is composed of senior and early career researchers with interdisciplinary background in learning sciences, workplace learning and knowledge development, design of learning environments, computer science and learning analytics.
The affiliation to the national AI-center TRUST offers KITE great opportunities for collaboration and project development with a large set of partners from education, public sector and industry. These connections also enable to build capacities for research that addresses configurations of human learning and collaboration, work processes and emerging intelligent technologies.
Focus
KITE’s orientation and interdisciplinary collective expertise open for explorations and a rich research agenda that targets conceptual, empirical and methodological contributions to the research fields of learning sciences, computer-supported collaborative learning and work, learning analytics and AI.
Themes that we will explore:
• how human cognition and different types of intelligent technologies, AI tools specifically, can be (re)configured in relation to learning and knowledge work.
• the repositioning of human agency in relation to non-human agency in multiple settings (school, higher education and work), as a consequence of the interaction between humans and intelligent/AI tools
• design of AI-powered tools and infrastructures for connecting generative AI and domain specific knowledge in multiple domains.
Research aims and activities
KITE develops an exploratory, integrated and critical understanding of the interactions between human learners and tools that integrate GenAI with domain-specific knowledge. Such an understanding is fundamental for building knowledge, trust and equity in a society where emerging intelligent technologies become intertwined in the various ways of learning and working.
The group combines skillfully work conducted in a tradition where observation, digital ethnography, or interaction analysis are key methods, with advanced analytical work based on data from interactions between learners, and between learners and platforms, AI-tools and infrastructures.
KITE engage in a combination of activities, such as internal research meetings, joint reading of articles and feedback on work in progress, local events with stakeholders, research seminars with international speakers, public outreach, and contributions to the study program, staff professional development and PhD education.
