About the project

In cooperation with the Faculty of Medicine, the Centre for Educational Measurement at the University of Oslo (CEMO) does research on the examination and grading system in the undergraduate medical training program. The project’s main objective is to foster and enhance existing examination and testing practice and to, ultimately, offer measurement approaches also applicable to other fields in higher education. The research conducted has an applied focus but is founded in the field of educational measurement.

Background

The project started in March 2015, Haakon Thorbergsen Haakstad joined the project as a Doctoral Research Fellow in November 2017. The main objective has been on establishing routines for monitoring – and fostering - the quality of high-stakes exams at the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Oslo. We approach research questions related to criterion-referenced testing, test equating, classification and measurement precision, and the use of psychometric models in small-scale scenarios.
