About the group
FREMO was established in 2018 and has since built up an internationally recognizable profile in the field of educational measurement and addressed issues of specific relevance for measurement in the national Norwegian context. Hosted by the Centre for Educational Measurement (CEMO), it serves as a research coordination, training, and operational unit aimed at strengthening educational measurement projects. It provides leadership and support for ambitious research initiatives, fosters internal collaboration, and hosts a biannual international conference.
The research group FREMO provides a structure supporting quantitative methodology research at the Faculty of Educational Sciences. The research group facilitates the mutual exchange of ideas and establishes environments for continuous joint discussions among researchers working with quantitative methodological development.
Research strands
The research group Frontier Research in Educational Measurement consists of four strands, each with a specialization in educational measurement:

- Flexible, robust, and scalable estimation methods
- Measurement in intensive longitudinal data
- Modern meta-analytic methods
