The University of Oslo invite eligible researchers to express their interest in developing a funding application for a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship (MSCA-PF) to pursue a research project at the Department of Education (IPED), nationally recognized as the leading education research department in Norway.
The MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowship deadline is once a year, in mid September.
Who can apply?
- You are a promising researcher and have a doctoral degree by the call deadline.
- You have obtained your PhD degree within the previous eight years before the call deadline. Time working outside research and career breaks do not count towards this.
- You may be of any nationality.

You are willing to move to another country, i.e. you must not have resided or worked in Norway (for European Postdoctoral Fellowships), or the host organisation for the outgoing phase (for Global Postdoctoral Fellowships), for more than 12 months in the 36 months before the call deadline.

You are not eligible to apply if you have submitted an application that received a score below 70% the previous year. Valid as of 2022.
What can be funded?
- The MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowship programme is open to all domains of research and innovation. The project can be designed freely by the applicant together with the host in a fully 'bottom-up' manner.
What does the funding cover?
- The grant provides an allowance to cover your living, travel and family costs. The grant is awarded to your host organisation (the return organisation for Global fellowships). The research costs and overheads of the host organisation(s) are also supported.
- European Fellowships last from one to two years, Global Fellowships from two to three years.
- You may receive additional support to carry out a placement of up to 6 months in a non-academic organisation based in an EU Member State or Horizon Europe Associated Country at the end of the fellowship.
How do I apply?
- You submit a research proposal, including your CV. The proposal is written jointly with your chosen host organisation(s).
Types of fellowships
- European Fellowship: European Fellowships are open to researchers coming to Europe or moving within Europe to conduct research at the University of Oslo (host organisation).
- Global Fellowship: Global Fellowships are open to researchers currently within and outside Europe and are based on a 12-24 month stay in a third country with a 12-month mandatory return period at a European host organisation. The researcher must comply with the rules of mobility in the country where the placement takes place.
- Both types of fellowships may also include short-term secondments anywhere in the world during the fellowship (except during the return phase of a Global Fellowship).
