About the project
The project focuses on designing for institutional change and professional learning in school as a workplace. Social and technological interventions are studied as part of the EU KP-Lab project ideas of trialogical learning. The project is located in an upper secondary school in Norway being involved in a series of intervention studies over the last four years.
Objectives
- Exploring evolving social practices when introducing a new leadership team ("P-team" - new institutional body) for collective knowledge advancement in school as workplace.
- Inform design, use and evaluation of KP-Lab Shared Space technology to support productive interactions and new social practices.
Theory and methods
The Ullern case study is a design based research project that builds on ideas of Change Laboratory Method (Engeström 2001, Engeström et. al 2003, Engeström, 2007) and Vygotsky's method of "double stimulation" (Vygotsky, 1978). The units of data are defined in relation to object oriented activities in the leadership team of the school and the interrelationship with activities in other communities. The data are constructed according to elements in this collective activity system, comprising the interplay between tools, subjects and objects, and how these activities are regulated by procedures, communities at work and work distribution among the participants.
