DiDiRes Hub Seminar: "Skills, Occupations, and Opportunity: New Evidence from the 2023 OECD Adult Skills Survey"

Today's seminar includes a talk given by Professor Francesca Borgonovi, OECD and University College London.

Content

The 2023 Survey of Adult Skills (PIAAC) contains, for the first time for a large-scale adult assessment, information of key information processing skills (literacy, numeracy and adaptive problem solving) as well as information on willingness to delay gratification and social and emotional skills (measured using the Big 5 personality framework). In her presentation, Francesca will provide an overview of data in the Survey of Adult skills and analyses on the importance of skills for labour market outcomes in OECD countries. She will present results from the forthcoming Skills Outlook 2025 on the “skills profile” of occupations and identify the labour-market returns associated with the set of skills that have been assessed in PIAAC, considering their contribution to earnings, employment, and intergenerational occupational mobility.
