About the project

This project seeks to investigate properties of measurement instruments used in ability testing, with the objective of establishing amongst other things knowledge on the construct representation underpinning the test items. This is an important validation step in the generation of strong cognitive theory for these tests, which can be used to create new items - either by augmenting traditional artisanal item generation or for providing a framework to engineer automatic item generation (AIG). It can also be used to promote modern test administration methods such as computerized adaptive testing (CAT).

Background

The project is located at the Centre for Educational Measurement at the University of Oslo (CEMO), with a time frame of a four year PhD. The main method of inquiry is through item analysis and advanced statistical modeling.

Financing

The project financing currently consist of one PhD position financed by the Faculty of Education.

Cooperation

Collaborators currently include the Norwegian Armed Forces.
