Video Simulation

The education group will help increase the workplace relevance of teacher education and special needs education programmes by using 360-degree video and VR technology to enable students to practise managing challenging teaching situations.

In collaboration with professional practice settings and international experts, a range of films will be developed to illustrate challenging teaching situations, such as difficult student behaviour, special educational needs and spontaneous controversial remarks (for example, racism or homophobia). The films will support innovative learning and assessment activities, in which students use VR headsets to make active decisions and reflect throughout on how they manage different challenging teaching situations.

The education group will strengthen competence through an interdisciplinary collaboration between ILS (pedagogy, subject didactics and mentor education), ISP (special needs education), and technical expertise from the TLV Lab, as well as through active student involvement. By developing universal simulation methods that can be used across different courses, the group addresses educators’ need for tools that can manage challenges related to AI in traditional forms of assessment.

The films that are developed will be included in the ILS video library, making them available to both educators and students.
