HUB brings together interdisciplinary environments from ILS, IPED and ISP to strengthen the quality of education with a particular emphasis on social sustainability. The group will serve as a meeting place to explore how education can equip students for critical participation and action in the face of complex societal challenges.
HUB will strengthen the programmes' ability to contribute to a sustainable societal development, while also equipping both individuals and various communities for critical participation and action – in disciplines, professions and across a diversity of societal arenas.
The group adopts a broad concept of sustainability, and examines sustainability challenges in light of planetary boundaries and social, cultural, ethical and political dimensions. Through an exploratory community, the group will look at how different teaching formats, such as reading aloud and discussion of core texts, can help ensure that all students are included in the learning environment and gain access to the academic community regardless of background and prerequisites.
The collaboration will, among other things, result in:
- Revised course descriptions with updated learning outcomes and syllabi that integrate sustainability perspectives into core courses at the faculty.
- New and alternative assessment forms that allow for reflection, critical thinking and adapted instruction.
- Concrete drafts for new offerings within continuing and further education (EVU).
In addition, the group will collaborate with the Centre for Global Sustainability.
