This seminar will be held by Ranveig Falch. In this talk, she will present findings from a large-scale global study on how people respond to men and women falling behind in education and the labor market. Using data from over 60 countries, the seminar explores how beliefs about effort and responsibility shape support for policies, and how these patterns vary across gender and national contexts.

This seminar will be held by Siri Hausland Folstad. In this talk, she will present research from her PhD on how a nationwide Norwegian school reform is associated with adolescents’ mental health and wellbeing. Using linked registry and survey data, the seminar explores how changes in school curricula and subject guidelines may relate to depression, life satisfaction, and use of mental health services among students.

This seminar will be held by Lu Zhang. In this talk, she will explore how different statistical modeling choices can affect whether test scores are truly comparable across groups. Using examples from large-scale reading assessments and simulation studies, the seminar highlights why commonly used models may sometimes lead to misleading conclusions, and how alternative approaches can improve measurement practice.

This seminar will be held by Anne Marie Andersen Dreyer. In this talk, she will present research on how parental discretion over school starting age, often referred to as academic redshirting, affects gaps in ADHD referral, diagnosis, and treatment between younger- and older-for-grade children.

This seminar will be held by Dr. James Soland. In this talk, he will examine how decisions about survey scoring and calibration can affect results from growth mixture models used to study development over time. Through illustrative examples, the seminar will highlight why producing unbiased survey scores is challenging and discuss the implications for interpreting patterns of growth in education and psychology.
