About the project
Teacher Evaluation is evaluation of teachers or student teachers by pupils with the aid of surveys. Teacher evaluation in schools is at the centre of current education policies in many countries and is part of an international trend in which different variants of evaluation of teaching have been implemented via initiatives from education authorities in a number of countries after the start of the millennium.
Teacher Evaluation is practised in a number of Norwegian schools and is now explored in teacher education as a pilot scheme. The aim of teacher evaluation is to use feedback from pupils as an information element in student teachers systematic work with improving their professional practice.
The purpose of the research project TESTE: Teacher Evaluation in Schools and Teacher Education is to explore how teachers and student teachers perceive teaching evaluation as an input for professional growth.
