Forskningsintressen

Min forskning är grundad i tillämpad engelsk språkvetenskap. Mitt forskningsfält är engelskdidaktik där mitt främsta intresse är informellt lärande genom extramural engelska, det vill säga engelska utanför skolan. Jag myntade begreppet 'Extramural English' i min doktorsavhandling och det är idag ett etablerat begrepp inom fältet. Jag har genomfört flera studier och projekt om samband mellan extramural engelska och olika aspekter av engelsk språkfärdighet, inte minst vokabulär. Jag har specialiserat mig på samband mellan datorspelande och engelsklärande bland yngre barn och tonåringar. Andra starka forskningsintressen är bedömning av muntlig färdighet i engelska samt engelskundervisning i skolan, gärna i flerspråkiga klassrum. De flesta av mina studier är kvantitativa, men genom åren har jag breddat mig metodologiskt och genomför numera ofta studier som är mixed och ibland helt kvalitativa.

Undervisning

Jag är utbildad ämneslärare från Sverige och har 15 års undervisningserfarenhet från högstadiet (ungdomsskole) och gymnasiet (vidaregående skole) innan jag började min akademiska karriär. Vid ILS undervisar jag framförallt i engelskdidaktik på lektorprogrammet och PPU, men jag undervisar också då och då på olika doktorandkurser. Grov översikt (på engelska):
