About TEPEC
TEPEC is an interdisciplinary research group at the Department of Teacher Education and School Research (ILS) consisting of researchers in pedagogy and subject didactics. Our ambition is to develop knowledge that contributes to quality in teacher education, for the benefit of students’ learning and society. TEPEC investigates teacher professional development at the intersection of practice, policy and society.

Teachers Professional development and recruitment to the teaching profession
We research various partnership models and co‑created education pathways that aim to help strengthen recruitment, reduce dropout and build professional identity. Through our research we examine how practice‑oriented teacher education and mentoring together can promote student teachers’ motivation, resilience and teaching quality.
Innovation in and research on teacher education and mentor education
Our research on innovation in teacher and mentor education focuses on the integration of digital tools and learning design, including Artificial Intelligence (AI). We develop and evaluate learning designs and mentoring tools grounded in pedagogical theory, that foster critical AI competence and safeguard ethical and democratic considerations. The research questions concern how technology can support student teachers’ learning and professional development.
Democracy and equity in teacher education
TEPEC investigates how teacher education can promote teachers as democratic professionals who work towards equitable education. By studying teachers’ ability to notice and respond to inequity, we explore which structures and practices strengthen democratic professional formation and inclusive learning environments, with attention to sustainability and Indigenous perspectives.
